Ancient History of Haida Gwaii

The collections include some of Canada’s earliest known artifacts; 13,000-year-old stone tools and the earliest known examples of weaving techniques found on Canada’s Pacific coast; an outstanding representation of historic and contemporary Haida art; Haida fishing technology; ceremonial regalia; monumental carving, and weaving. Post-contact collections represent the trading era (1770- 1850); settlement history, agriculture, mining, fishing, forestry, folk art, and contemporary art.
