SIX PEOPLE DREAMED OF LAVA TUBES and culverts leading from land into water. The emotion of these dreams was fear, fear someone you loved could be, or already was, being pulled into the tube and in risk of never returning. Surprisingly, four people got their people back safely.

A FEW DREAMED OF FLYING, of being surprised by the effortlessness of flight. In the dream, you just let yourself fall forward like you do in water. Air holds you up and you rise by your own intention. If you lose focus, you get heavy and sink down to earth again, doomed to walk about with other birds who gave up their dreams of flying in the sixth grade.

THE PROBLEM OF CATCHING BIRD SONG IN A NET IS
THAT YOU CANNOT!
Against common sense, the Dreamers have used their gift of paradoxical sleep to safely travel backwards in time. They have
been provided nets and instructions, but only a Dreamer would accept this futile task.

ON BEING NOT QUITE FINISHED considers the awkwardness of evolution and the daily ordinariness of getting the job done. It is
said we came from the sea, maybe just walked out of there, fingers wrinkled, lungs wheezing a little, lips salt-chapped, legs a little shaky. Some of us must have wanted to walk back in.

OFFERING MILK TO WHALES … Scientists say whales could have evolved from small, hoofed land mammals like tiny deer, or some other hoofed thing. Would it be better to say, off of it is a story, that making story is what humans do really well? And you can’t dispute a story.

IRIDIUM IS SCATTERED IN THE BADLANDS, dropped like lost children’s breadcrumbs, before the way back is forgotten and lost forever. One of the rarest metals on earth, a thin band of iridium found all over the world is a geologic boundary marker of time between dinosaurs’ death and the birth of flowering plants.
