ELIM SLY is a filmmaker from northern Haida Gwaii. Temperate, though volatile and much removed from mainland Canada, Elim says that it is a place of great beauty and inspiration. In his early career, Sly worked largely in documentary filmmaking under the mentorship of Skidegate local, Patrick Shannon. Since shifting to commercial work under the moniker, Rising Tide, Sly has directed projects in Mexico and West and Eastern Europe. In recent years, he worked as a writer for the Council of the Haida Nation, and as a carpenter, having settled close to the Sangan River with his family.
